Madison County Sheriff's investigators searched the waters of the Flint River off Winchester Road Friday afternoon.
Sources close to the investigation said they were looking for evidence in connection with seven murders in Tennessee and Alabama. Neighbors in the area said investigators have searched the area a handful of times since the murders in October.
WAFF's crew on the scene witnessed investigators pull something from the water earlier Friday morning.
Investigators used long sticks and paddles to search the water throughout the day.
The investigation into the murders started last month when Lincoln County investigators found the bodies of 22-year-old Chabreya Campbell, her unborn child, her 18-month-old son Rashad Ragland, and 21-year-old Amber Mccaulley at a home in Tennessee.
Just a few hours later, officers found the body of 21-year-old Jessica Brown.
The next night, Jeffrey Pope was shot to death in Huntsville. The next morning, utility workers found the body of Warren Crutcher in a wooded area in Hazel Green.
Investigators said all the murders are connected. No charges have been made in the case.
