Finance ministry note had vindicated about Raja's stand, said DMK

CHENNAI ? on Thursday, against the backdrop of the finance ministry note on 2G spectrum pricing, DMK, a key UPA ally, commented that the stand taken by jailed former telecom minister A Raja on the issue had been ?vindicated?. Top DMK sources explained that the crux of the entire case is that Raja had violated all advices by the Prime Minister and finance ministry. The letter (by Finance Ministry) stated that the then finance minister had agreed to the fixed price, non-auction rule. Then, this vindicates Raja?s stand.

In a document, which has been submitted before the Supreme Court on Wednesday, finance ministry had told that the telecom ministry could go in for auction of 2G spectrum licenses then finance minister P Chidambaram insisted on this. Raja, who resigned as minister last year in the wake of CAG findings on losses caused to the exchequer over non-auction of spectrum, had said a court that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram had been saved in the loop.

Subramanian Swamy as Janata party leader has filed the document in the apex court and he has tried probe against Chidambaram for his alleged culpability in the price fixation of the spectrum maintained that CBI was only keeping Raja for the loss of revenue to the exchequer in the spectrum allocation.
