Top Branding Strategies for Small Business | BetterBusinessPro.com

One way to get your business noticed is to create a brand. This is not the exclusive property of big companies. Small ones can do it too with these top strategies.

What Is Your Business Identity?

When you think of Coca-Cola or McDonald?s, what comes to mind? It could be the design of the soda can or the double arches of the fast food chain?s sign. Either way, something comes to mind. That is what you want with your own business. People should get an image of something in their minds when the name of your company is mentioned.

This is your business identity and it is important for establishing your enterprise. Just like with people, an identity differentiates your business from others in the same niche. If your small business operates on the internet, it is even more imperative that you separate yourself from your competition.

Decide what your business stands for. Does it speak for quality? If so, people are willing to pay more for a brand that they know that they can trust even if a cheaper and equally well made item exists.

A brand raises the bar for you. It encourages consistency, which is what people are looking for in a business. Far too many start out on the right foot but can?t keep up with the values that they say are synonymous with their way of doing business.

So, how can you brand your business?

Top Branding Strategies

Sometimes the most trusted strategies are the ones that we know work. You don?t have to reinvent the wheel to get the results that you want, just use it more efficiently.

Logos: Most companies that have maintained a brand have some sort of logo. The logo needs to foster a connection to the company in some way. If you sell bread, for instance, your logo could be a stalk of wheat or another grain. The logo doesn?t have to be elaborate, just relevant. It could be the name of your company designed in an eyecatching way.

Colors: We have always been told that color elicits emotion. Think of the bull and the matador with that red cape. Bright colors catch the eye and bring to mind something that is light and refreshing. Reds and yellows are often associated with food, while green is seen as natural and ?earth-friendly.?

Taglines: What line demonstrates quality and the values of your business? It?s almost like a jingle for an ad company. Take the time to evaluate what you want to convey to people and then incorporate that into the saying that will identify your business.

Blog: Set up a blog for your business. This is where you can answer questions from your customers and gauge their feelings. Customers like it when their opinions are valued.

Start here with your branding efforts. You don?t have to spend a lot to get started. But, budget for advertising efforts.
