Latest Update on Storm Chances for the Weekend in North Texas

STORM CHANCES INCREASING FOR THE WEEKEND WITH THE SLIGHT CHANCE OF SEVERE WEATHER ON SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT?

A hot and humid day for our Friday. ?Here are the readings from 3pm. ?Note the dew point temperature which is a nice measure of how humid the air is. ? Dew points?are in the upper 60s. ?That is pretty sticky air.

RAIN CHANCES THIS EVENING

A few spotty showers and thunderstorms have developed mainly southwest of Fort Worth. ?Spotty showers and storms will be possible thru the evening mainly for areas south of DFW. ?Here is a link to the latest radar images?

OVERNIGHT?

Showers and thunderstorm look to develop for areas east of Dallas overnight tonight. ?We had the same thing happen last night and after midnight is when we will see redevelopment of storms in the eastern half of North Texas.

THE WEEKEND SETUP?

There is a front that is draped over North Texas right now. ?Here is the surface map from 3pm today.

That front will stick with us thru the day tomorrow. ?And has an upper level disturbance shown here over the Dakotas dives south tonight and tomorrow. ?This will initiate more storms along that front for our Saturday.

Most numerous showers and thunderstorms look to occur in the evening and then overnight Saturday night into Sunday. ?There is the slight risk of severe weather for North Texas with high winds and hail the main concern.

SUNDAY?

Storms will likely linger thru the morning hours on Sunday before rain chances taper off Sunday afternoon. ?After the rain Saturday into Sunday morning we will have relatively quiet weather for most of next week with below average temperatures. ?Highs should stay in the low 90s for the first part of next week before warming some later in the week.
