How to add new commands to the Quick Access Toolbar in Word - First

For our society today, making things quicker and easier is the name of the game, especially when it comes to computers and technology. ?I am sure that most of you would agree. ?That is why I love utilizing the quick access toolbar in Microsoft Word.

If you have things that you use in Microsoft Word multiple times a day, why not setup your quick access toolbar to contain these commands rather than having to remember the toolbar ribbon where they are located. ?

I started with computers back in the days of good ole? Microsoft DOS. ?It is OK to comment below and call me old?haha. ?But??back in the good old days?, we all loved any shortcut we could find to get around the keyboard faster. ?One really sticks out in my mind. ?Any of you ever use some of the first editions of Lotus 1-2-3? ?If so, please comment below and tell me about it. ?Well, with Lotus, you could hit a ?/? and then ?F? and then ?R? to go to your spreadsheet files very quickly. Just by typing /FR you could pull them up in a jiffy! ?I say all that to say that I still am looking for ways to move around the keyboard/mouse faster.

The quick access toolbar will allow you to put commands at the top of your document to execute functions with one click of the mouse. ?These are denoted with their appropriate icon.

For my example, let?s say that we seem to always want to email your completed documents to other recipients. ?So, we can just put the email icon at the top of our document screen and make a Word shortcut.

Let?s get to it?..

1. ?Open Microsoft Word

2. ?Click on File in the top left hand corner

3. ?Click on Options on the left hand side of the screen

4. ?Click on Quick Access Toolbar

5. ?Find the command in the list that you want to show on the quick access toolbar and highlight it. ?In our case, I have highlighted Email

6. ?With Email highlighted, click the add button

7. ?Now you will see that Email has moved over to the right side

8. ?Click OK

9. ?Now the Email icon has been added to the quick access toolbar in Microsoft Word at the top of the screen. ?Now, any time you want to send the document via email, all you have to do is click the email icon to initiate the process.

That is it! ?I know this will be a piece of cake for you.

Hope this has helped someone. ?Please leave me a comment if it has. ?Thanks!

Happy computing!
