SPECIAL TO THE AMERICAN PRESS

The students, faculty and staff of the 2011 Governor?s Program for Gifted Children at McNeese will present a variety of final performances Wednesday through Friday, July 20-23.
GPGC is a seven-week residential summer enrichment program for children in grades 6-10.
Students follow an academic curriculum for the first half of the day and a fine arts elective curriculum for the second half, with courses in science, humanities, composition, comparative politics, English, psychology, chorus, art, musical, drama, physical education, critical thinking, publishing, stage tech, debate, acting and band.
Musically gifted students follow a different curriculum, with courses in music history and music theory, as well as private music instruction.
Final performances, open to the public, are coordinated and produced by GPGC students with the assistance of their faculty advisors.
The performances are on the McNeese campus in the Shearman Fine Arts Center?s Ralph Squires Hall or F.G. Bulber Auditorium.

Friday?s Schedule

2-7 p.m. ? Art show, F.G. Bulber Auditorium lobby.
Noon ? Student recital, Ralph Squires Hall.
3 p.m. ? Drama production, ?The Giver,? Ralph Squires Hall.

Saturday?s Schedule

2-3 p.m. ? Art show, F.G. Bulber Auditorium lobby.
3 p.m. ?Chorus/large ensemble concert, F.G. Bulber Auditorium.
